Message from Ms. Kimiko
Horii, Representative Director of NPO GEWEL
GEWEL's vision is to
realize a Japanese society filled with vitality and creativity
in which people work vigorously according to their values
and ways of life without being constrained by gender, age,
and background. As a first step, GEWEL
will support businesswomen to use their abilities and take
responsible positions in order to participate in decision-making
processes in the corporations.
The number of corporations trying to revitalize and foster
their female workers to countermeasure problems arising from
declining birthrate and labor force is increasing steadily.
The Human Resources / personnel system and supporting facilities
have been improved. However, it seems only tactics are being
discussed lacking in the fundamental concept of change.
Corporations and the Japanese society will bear more creativity
by admitting and accepting differences and similarities of
individuals, which is the concept of Diversity
and Inclusion. Japan has showed its strength as a homogeneous
group by excluding such differences until today. However,
Japanese corporations whether they like it or not, have to
deal with consumers from all over the world to compete globally
with their competitors due to the impact of globalization
in the economy. GEWEL believes
that Japanese companies will not survive unless they create
a culture that appreciates Diversity
and Inclusion.
We at GEWEL would be fulfilled
if our contribution to the future of the Japanese society
could be enacted by supporting corporations utilizing the
abilities of their female workers through our training and
accepting diversity of each and
every employee as a first step to Diversity
and Inclusion, which leads to more women impacting
their corporations and the society at large. |
